2nd Annual David Andrew Memorial Ball Tournament
On Saturday June the 6th friends and family of David Andrew met for the second annual slow pitch tournament in his memory. It was raining as they gathered, but by the time the first teams were ready to take the field, the sun was out for a beautiful early summer day. Eight teams competed and everyone had a great time.
Everyone was in awe of the amazing job that Brian Robinson and his girlfriend Krista Gates did organizing the day. They were ably supported by Ian Kennelly. The tournament raised $2,600 that was generously donated to Peterborough Youth Services.
As one of the ball player said on his way by, "We get to have a great day and support a worthwhile cause. It doesn't get better than that."
We would like to give a special thank you to Brian Robinson, Krista Gates, Ian Kennelly, and the Andrew Family. Many thanks also to the following, whose generous support was gratefully appreciated and helped make the day possible:
- Wilburn Archer of Wilburn Archer Trucking (sponsor)
- Shaun Milne Signs - discount on banners
- Costco - gift cards
- Craig and Sandy Andrew of PetValu, Brookdale Plaza - gift certificate
- Tina Johnston of Fandango's Hair, Nail Design and Day Spa - gift certificate
- Rod Ward of KitCare Corp. - First Aid Kit
- Swish Maintenance - Cleaning Supplies.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year for the 3rd Annual David Andrew Memorial Ball Tournament. PYS staff members are considering whether they will enter their own team next year.
